Some Boston Bruins fans may not care about uniforms, but they do get people talking. Bringing back the retros last season was a great move, and once we saw them on the ice, people started talking about whether the Bruins will get a third uniform, with the gold Lake Tahoe jerseys a popular choice to complement the current black-and-white sets. However, this season will feature at least one new uniform: the Hometown Remix set.
The Hometown Remix is an ode to the NBA's City Edition uniforms and the MLB's City Connects. It will come to all 32 organizations and may stray from traditional colorways; some teams are already planning to do that this season, while others are sticking with their colors just in a different format. It looks like the Bruins will switch things up, similar to how the Boston Red Sox wear Fenway Green jerseys for their City Connects.

The Bruins will wear brown for their City Connects, an ode to the team's original colors from over 100 years ago, when they wore a brown-and-gold jersey. However, multiple outlets reported that Boston's idea was to go with a more college-themed look, as an ode to the area's universities and the Beanpot Tournament they play at TD Garden.
The Bruins' social media post seems to confirm those rumors, with “Causeway University” alluding to a college-themed jersey. Some leaks show the uniforms as predominantly brown, with gold lettering and a curved wordmark on the front, similar to the schools that usually play in the Beanpot.

The thinking is that the uniform will closely resemble the Boston University set shown above, with brown replacing the red and gold replacing the white. If so, these jerseys could become a hit and eventually become the team’s third jersey set. The Bruins haven’t announced a uniform schedule yet like other teams, but we can expect them to wear the uniform 8-12 times this season.
