As is the case with every NHL offseason, there were roster changes for the Boston Bruins. With roster changes come some number changes and new numbers for new players added either in free agency or through a trade.
When training camp begins next month at Warrior Ice Arena, Bruins fans are going to need a roster to try and keep up with the changes that are coming for second-year head coach Marco Sturm. Here are some new numbers for players when the season begins on Sept. 29 against the New York Rangers at TD Garden.
Boston Bruins announce new numbers for the 2026-27 season
There were some new players that were added this summer, and on Monday, the Bruins released the new numbers on their X account.
No. 10: JJ Peterka
Acquired from the Utah Mammoth on draft night for two first-round draft picks, Boston is hoping that right wing JJ Peterka solves the need for a goal-scoring wing. He had what some considered a down year with the Mammoth, but there is no doubting that the talent is there. He could end up solidifying the top line for the Black and Gold.
No. 17: Will Borgen
The Bruins needed a right-shot defenseman, and Sweeney ended up swinging a July 1 trade with the New York Rangers for right-shot Will Borgen. Just where he fits on the backend remains to be seen, but you can bet that he will be a key player as Charlie McAvoy serves his six-game suspension to begin the season.
No. 40: Ivan Ivan
Acquired from the Colorado Avalanche in a trade that sent prospect Fabian Lysell out West, Ivan Ivan is a prospect that is worth keeping an eye on when camp opens. He'll likely end up with the Providence Bruins in the American Hockey League (AHL), but stranger things have happened. He'll likely get a couple of preseason games to impress.
No. 75: Connor Clifton
Maybe the biggest surprise free agent signing was defenseman Connor Clifton, who spent two years with the Buffalo Sabres and one with the Pittsburgh Penguins before returning. Another depth spot on defense, there is going to have to be some subtractions by the Bruins before the season begins.
No. 76: Lukas Reichel
Acquired from the Vancouver Canucks at the trade deadline back in March, Lukas Reichel was re-signed to a contract in May. To make way for Clifton to get his No. 75 back, Reichel slid up one spot to No. 76. In 10 games last season for the Black and Gold, Reichel had a goal and three points.
