On the last leg of a disappointing 5-game road trip, the Boston Bruins headed to Chicago to take on the red-hot Blackhawks. Surprising all of Bruins nation – and the NHL as a whole – the B’s came out on top with an impressive 6-2 win. Although there were many plays, fights and goals that helped the B’s get the victory, there was one goal that stood out as the Friday Feature of the week.

Exactly three minutes into the first period, Patrice Bergeron landed the puck in the net to get the Bruins on the board. Bergeron received a beautiful no-look pass from Reilly Smith and tipped the puck passed Corey Crawford and into the net to notch the point, however this goal was monumental not just for the B’s, but for Bergeron specifically. It was his 200th career NHL goal! It brought his season total to 17 goals and a team-leading 40 points.

In his 12 years in the league, Patrice Bergeron has really made a name for himself as one of the greats. Although he is sometimes overlooked as an elite player, he has the skill, commitment and two-way play that makes him stand out among others. Just look at the list of accomplishments he has attained throughout his career. Selected for two Canadian Olympic Teams, 2010 and 2014 (both gold medals); NHL 15 Official Cover Athlete; 2014 Selke Trophy Winner; 2014 NHL Foundation Player Award; 2013 King Clancy Memorial Trophy; 2012 led the league in +/-; 2011 Stanley Cup Winner; 25th member of the Triple Gold Club 2011; 2005 World Ice Hockey Championships MVP; 2015 NHL All Star Game. These are just a few selected highlights from his career, but the list goes on.

Not only are his skills and leadership portrayed on the ice, but off the ice as well. He is always giving back to the community through charity, including Patrice’s Pals and most recently, hosting the Cuts for a Cause.
