After months of teasers and leaks that might've backfired on the NHL by letting everyone see most of the uniforms before release, the Boston Bruins have officially shown the world their Hometown Remix jerseys. We've known since last year that the Bruins' jerseys would be brown, but recent teases from the organization and corroborating reports told us they were also going with a collegiate theme. The jerseys didn't disappoint.
Some fans may not like the brown-and-gold color scheme, but it's the team's original colors, and I thought it was a great way to represent the college hockey scene in the city with a wordmark across the front. The point of the Hometown Remix was to give fans something different and exciting, and wearing these jerseys for a limited number of games won't affect anyone's viewing experience if they don't like the uniforms.
One potential gripe about the uniforms once we see them on the ice is the decision to go with gold equipment. Would the uniforms have been classier with all brown helmets? Sure, and maybe that could be a future addition if the team adopts these as their third uniforms down the road, but the league was going for originality with this set, and originality is what they got from Boston.
"YELLOW HELMETS I LOVE IT. Man I hope they debut them tonight," said X user paulieredsox.
"Oughhhh the yellow helmet 😮💨😮💨I kinda love it ngl…." said X user valyntne.
"not even pasta could make the uni look good im sorry why did we think poop and pee primary colors were the move," saucetrnak quipped.
Reactions to the uniforms on social media were mixed: some questioned the jersey color scheme, others questioned the gold helmet, and others loved the switch from traditional black-and-gold.
Final opinion on the Bruins' Hometown Remix uniforms
I might've gone with brown equipment, but a certain section of the fanbase will love these uniforms. I assume young kids who go to games and see their favorite players in a different jersey will enjoy the change, and that's really what it's all about.
These are the kinds of uniforms that could grow on the fans once we see them on the ice, and in terms of it being a memorable piece of Bruins memorabilia, it wouldn't be too surprising to see one of these on the wall of my man cave one day with a 44 Hagens or 93 Minten on the back. If nothing else, and they are just a one-and-done for the 2026-27 season, it'll be a great memory of the season when the youth took over Causeway.
