When it comes to the Boston Bruins and prospects, well, those are generally words that don't mix well together under general manager Don Sweeney.

The Bruins have been known for wanting to inject prospects into their lineup, but for the most part, there haven't been any that have been good enough. That changed a couple of years ago with Matthew Poitras and Mason Lohrei, but Poitras spent most of last season in the American Hockey League (AHL) with the Providence Bruins.

However, in the 2025 Entry Draft, the Black and Gold struck, well, gold. James Hagens, once seen as one of the top picks, fell to the Bruins at No. 7, and it was too much of an opportunity to pass up for Sweeney to not pick him. He did, and he quickly became the top prospect for the Bruins.

However, other than Dean Letourneau, the rest of the prospect pool leaves a lot to be desired. Hannah Stuart of Bleacher Report graded each team's prospect pool, and the Bruins' grade shouldn't come as a surprise.

Bleacher Report gives Bruins a predictable prospect grade

Stuart gave the Bruins a grade of a C for one reason: James Hagens and Dean Letourneau.

"If it weren't for James Hagens and Dean Letourneau, who single-handedly (double-handedly, since it's two of them?) dragged this grade up, the Boston Bruins would be looking at something in the D or D-minus range,'' wrote Stuart.

Well now, that's rather blunt. However, as she pointed out later, there are a couple of other prospects that are in the pipeline who could be coming, including Will Zellers, who is in his second season at the University of North Dakota. Another name to keep an eye on is Cooper Simpson.

"Hagens and Letourneau will; Will Zellers and Cooper Simpson could. But outside of that, the Bruins are going to have some real work to do moving forward,'' Stuart added.

Again, there is nothing wrong with that statement. The prospect pool is something that is going to need some work over time. However, Hagens is settling into a spot in the NHL, and it certainly feels like Letourneau and Zellers are not too far behind him in terms of becoming pros and making an impact. It wouldn't be surprising to see them in the organization after their current college season ends.

Bruins fans understand just how tough the prospect pool is and nobody with disagree with Stuarts grade,
