Pavel Zacha was a first-round pick, 6th overall by the New Jersey Devils in the 2015 NHL Entry Draft. He is currently one of the more well-known players on the team currently. Each season, he continues to show up for the team and prove his worth as a player. Let's dive in and learn more about our 29-year-old forward.

When did we get Zacha?

In 2022, the Bruins acquired the forward from a trade deal with the New Jersey Devils. Erik Haula, who is now with the Los Angeles Kings, was with the Bruins for only one season (2021-22), but did score 18 goals and helped with 26 assists during his time with us. Zacha's record, at the time, consisted of 15 goals and 21 assists. Although the stats don't lie, the Bruins organization had other matters on its mind that led to this trade in the summer of 2022.

Hockey game play

Zacha's age, size, and flexibility in playing in multiple positions (wing and center), were key points of his player profile that the Bruins needed during a time of uncertainty for the future playing of veterans Patrice Bergeron and David Krejci. His versatile ability to play well with David Pastrnak, both before and after David earned the rank of Captain. Another fun fact that contributes to their relationship on and off the ice, is that they are both the only players currently on the roster of Czech nationality, which can assist with quick communication and plays during ice time, due to having the ability of speak in their native language.

Last year, Pavel has proved his worth in staying more than once, most notably having a hat trick in the same game Marat Khusnutdinov got one also had one. Time after time he has also shown his teammate cohesiveness, the capability to be fluid with teammates and working on different lines.

Recently, Zacha has scored two goals, both this month. The first goal was scored on the 10th against the Philadelphia Flyers, while the second goal was scored three days later against the San Jose Sharks. Ironically, both of these goals were assisted by Captain Pastrnak, with an additional assist by Morgan Geekie on the Sharks goal.

Pavel is showing a future with very promising numbers for the rest of this season. Hopefully, the team can continue to have such a great season and make it to the playoffs once again, where they belong!
