Bruins at Flyers 4/10/21: Swayman and the B’s look for third straight win
The Boston Bruins take on the Philadelphia Flyers for the eighth and final time this season. This will be the third time in the last week these two teams meet.
Through the seven games with the Flyers this season, the B’s have almost always had Philly’s number, losing to them just once so far. The Black and Gold actually went undefeated against the Flyers over their first five games, not losing to them until April 5.
The last meeting between these two teams saw the B’s come out on top 4-2. A large reason for their victory was rookie goaltender Jeremy Swayman, who was making his NHL debut, as he made 40 saves.
Now, just four days later, the B’s and Swayman are looking for their third straight win. This game should be interesting as it’s the last game between these two teams this season and it’s also the third time these two teams are playing each other within the last week.
Boston Bruins at Philadelphia Flyers projected lineups.
Boston Bruins
Record: 21-10-6 (48 points)
The B’s will probably be making one change to their lineup for today. Trent Frederic missed last game due to illness (not COVID-19 related). If he’s not sick anymore, assume he’ll be back in the lineup in his normal spot on the fourth line. This means Anton Blidh would come out of the lineup.
The Black and Gold are still without defensemen Charlie McAvoy, who has a chance to play tomorrow, and Brandon Carlo. So both Kevan Miller and Steve Kampfer will remain in the lineup.
With goaltenders Tuukka Rask, who has a chance to play tomorrow, and Jaroslav Halak still out, Jeremy Swayman will get his third straight start, as he’s made the most of his opportunity so far. Dan Vladar will back him up.
Expect the Bruins to look like this today:
Marchand – Bergeron – Smith
Ritchie – Krejci – Pastrnak
DeBrusk – Coyle – Kuhlman
Frederic/Blidh – Kuraly – Wagner
Grzelcyk – Miller
Lauzon – Clifton
Zboril – Kampfer
Swayman (Vladar)
Philadelphia Flyers
Record: 18-15-6 (42 points)
In their game against the Islanders, the Flyers got defenseman Robert Hagg back. He had a solid game, so I expect him to remain in the lineup for today. He went in for Phil Myers, who I expect to once again be out of the lineup for today.
Other than that, we’ll be seeing the same lineup from the last meeting with Philly.
Brian Elliott is expected to be in net with Carter Hart backing him up.
Expect the Flyers to look like this today:
van Riemsdyk – Couturier – Farabee
Konecny – Giroux – Voracek
Laughton – Hayes – Patrick
Lindblom – Laczynski – Aube-Kubel
Provorov – Braun
Sanheim – Hagg/Myers
Morin – Gostisbehere
Elliott (Hart)

This game should be fun to watch. Every point matters for both of these teams, especially the Flyers who keep falling further and further behind for that fourth and final playoff spot in the East. Expect a hard-fought game from each team.
