Boston Bruins: Max Talbot Signs With KHL For One Year With Lokomotiv Yaroslavl
One of the veteran’s of the Bruins’ — both NHL and AHL — locker room has signed with the Lokomotiv Yaroslavl of the KHL. The news was originally broken on the official website of the Lokomotiv Yaroslavl, and the news was later confirmed on their Twitter page as well as by Maxime Talbot himself on his own Twitter page.
Talbot spent the 2015-16 season split between both the Boston Bruins and the Providence Bruins. In 38 games at the NHL level, Talbot posted seven points and was a very solid leader and defensive contributor for the team. In the AHL, Talbot posted 21 points in 26 games, and provided his leadership skills to the young guys in Providence who are just starting to learn the ins-and-outs of professional hockey.

Throughout his time with the Bruins, Talbot showed his ability to calm play down on the ice while also generate energy. While Talbot will never go down in history as one of the best Bruins’ of all time, and while the team missed the playoffs in both years that he was with the club, it’s hard to ignore his contributions to the team on, and off the ice.
By all accounts, Maxime Talbot was a locker room-favorite, and the importance of that cannot be understated when trying to put together a winning attitude and winning culture.
A veteran of over 700 games, Maxime Talbot has seen much success throughout his career in the NHL. Talbot’s career highlight is undoubtedly his Stanley Cup victory with the Pittsburgh Penguins in 2009 where he played a crucial role for the Penguins. His biggest contribution to the team can be found in game seven of the Penguins’ Stanley Cup Final appearance against the Detroit Red Wings. In that game, he scored both goals for the Pens in a 2-1 victory, clinching the Stanley Cup for his team.

It isn’t clear if Maxime Talbot has played his last game in the NHL or not, as a successful year in the KHL could spark some interest from NHL clubs next season. Regardless of where Talbot ends up next, it was quite the ride for the 10-year veteran who should be proud of everything he’s done in his hockey career to date.
