What’s Bruin? Do or Die Time for the Boston Bruins
Hot off a much-needed win against the top seed Rangers, the Bruins are heading into a week of must-win games. Last night’s game showed a team that had promise, was focused and was willing to fight for a playoff spot, something that we have not seen for much of the year. The 4-2 win combined with an OT loss to the Ottawa Senators put them back in a wild card position. However, they’re currently up by only one point and the Sens have a game in hand so every point is crucial going forward.
If the Bruins can play like they did against the Rangers, they should be able to sail into a postseason. Not only did they up their offensive play, but their defensive play as well. When Tuukka had to leave the game a few seconds into the second period due to “dehydration” not only did Svedberg step up to the challenge, but the defense backed him up for the remainder of the game, allowing only two pucks to slip into the net by a team that is known to crush its opponents.
Carolina Hurricanes
The Bruins weren’t able to get much rest after the game as they headed down to NC to take on the Hurricanes today at 5pm. The Canes are a team that has no chance of making it to the postseason, but that doesn’t mean that the Bruins can take this game lightly. The B’s have proven this year that they play better against the “better” teams and seem to fall apart against teams that shouldn’t pose a threat (beating the top seed Rangers, but failing miserably against the dreadful Sabres).
The Bruins/Hurricanes series is tied at one game apiece, but if the B’s continue their game like they did yesterday, they should be able to come out on top in the series, take two points and continue on their path to a postseason.

On Tuesday at 7pm EST, the B’s are looking to close out their March with a bang. Hosting the Florida Panthers, who are currently trailing by four points, the Bruins are looking to take a lead in the series that is currently tied at one game apiece. The last time these two teams met, the Bruins didn’t do so great and lost in a SO. Since the Panthers are fighting to take over the Bruin’s spot and since the teams will meet again once more this season, the Bruins HAVE to take this game in regulation.
Detroit Red Wings
The Detroit Red Wings will welcome the Bruins on Thursday April 2nd at 7pm EST for their fifth and final meeting of the regular season. Detroit currently sits five points ahead of the B’s in the 6th spot, so they are not out of reach. If the season’s series has proven anything, the Bruins are physically able to beat the Red Wings, having done so three out of the four previous matchups. Detroit is a tough and fast team so the Bruins will need to bring their A game to get it done.
Toronto Maple Leafs
The Toronto Maple Leafs are not only a team with a lot of talent, but a team that has given the Boston Bruins some bad luck over the years. This year, the Leafs have fallen towards the bottom of the pack. They have had some injuries, haven’t played that great and are dealing with some “locker-room” issues.
Although they may not be the best team in the league, they have proven to step up and take some of the big teams down. Just last night, they came back from an early 2-0 deficit to beat the Senators in OT and help the B’s secure a wild card spot. Currently down 2-1 in the series, the Bruins should come out in full force to tie up the series and take the two points.
“This group in here isn’t going to sit around and sulk about what’s happened so far over 75 games. We’re going to go out here and finish the right way. We’re going to do it the right way. It’s just about making sure we take care of our game moving forward.” Torey Krug
With the regular season in its final stretch, every point is crucial. Winning each game in regulation is vital for heading into the postseason. Today, the two trailing teams, Ottawa and Florida, are matched up against each other. Although we are secretly routing for FL to come out with the win, the Bruins taking the two points today is absolutely necessary. Not to mention, the Washington Capitals – which are currently only three points ahead of the B’s – are playing the Rangers and with a loss by Washington and a win by the Bruins, they would only be one point out from the top wild card spot.
Although having Ottawa, Florida, Washington and Detroit lose games is beneficial for the B’s, the only way they are going to continue their season is by winning games and notching points.
