The Boston Bruins had a bad night on Thursday against the St. Louis Blues. Unfortunately for the black and gold, they can't afford too many nights like this in the tough Atlantic Division, and head coach Marco Sturm noticed the team's poor effort.
"We got outworked in every area in the game... we didn't deserve anything better."

Good teams lose, and no one expected the Bruins to stay on pace to break their own regular-season record. However, the least you can expect is for players to give an honest effort every night, and after taking a 1-0 lead, the Bruins let the Blues control the rest of the game.
Most of Sturm's frustration has to be coming from the veterans, who continue to struggle. In a season where the franchise turnt over a new leaf and allowed the youth movement to take place, the veterans aren't holding up their end of the bargain.
Morgan Geekie and Pavel Zacha had another tough night on Thursday, losing puck battles, failing to generate offense, and, in a way, looking a bit disinterested. Geekie had some glimpses where he tried to take matters into his own hands, which at least shows someone cares, but that isn't his game and won't make things any better.
People will start blaming the lingering questions about Zacha's future, but that feels like an easy out for the Czech center. If you're mad at the Bruins for not giving you what you want, go out and earn it. If you're sour about the possibility of being traded, take the contract that the Bruins are offering. If not, go the Dylan Larkin route and tell them you'd rather play somewhere else.
The Bruins need to get back to the hard-working mindset that they had at the start of the year, which got them off to such a good start. They've not only been outclassed over the last two games, but they've also been outworked, which isn't going to go over well for any coach, but especially not Sturm.
""Unacceptable tonight, especially the first 40 minutes. We got outworked in every area of the game, top to bottom, and we didn’t deserve anything better [than] we did tonight.""Marco Sturm
It should be an interesting Friday at Warrior Ice Arena, as Sturm will change plans and have a practice day instead of the previously scheduled day off. I wouldn't want to be one of the 23 players on the active roster on Friday, given how frustrated the head coach seemed after Thursday's game.
