Bruins drop intriguing Rookie Camp and Prospects Showcase roster

Now that Labor Day has passed, the NHL will play meaningful games this month. That's right, the NHL is back. Captains' practice started for the Boston Bruins on Tuesday morning at Warrior Ice Arena, despite them not actually having a captain.

There will be another one on Thursday before the Black and Gold's prospects take over the ice with Rookie Camp and the Prospect Showcase this upcoming weekend in Western New York against the top prospects from the Buffalo Sabres. What was going to be interesting was just who was going to be on the Bruins prospect list for camp and the tournament in New York. We got that answer, and let's just say there were some interesting names on it.

Bruins drop prospects camp and challenge roster

Boston dropped the rosters for this upcoming weekend, and one name that sticks out like a sore thumb is James Hagens. It shouldn't really be surprising that he's on the list after he signed a PTO and got some game time last season in the American Hockey League (AHL) with the Providence Bruins.

He signed his entry-level deal and played in the last couple of regular-season games and the first three games of the first-round playoff series against the Buffalo Sabres. After not taking part in the Bruins Development Camp in late June and early July, he'll get a jump start on training camp next week with the prospects.

Some other names that stick out on the list are Dans Locmelis, Riley Duran, and Jake Schmaltz as forwards, while on defense, Ty Gallagher headlines the group. The two goalies are Jan Larys, who is attending on an invite basis, and Max Lundgren, who was signed last spring out of Merrimack.

Truth be told, this is a big weekend for Hagens and maybe Locmelis. Everyone else will likely begin the season in the AHL with the P-Bruins. Schmaltz and Duran are two prospects who are interesting, while Attilio Biasca is someone whom the Black and Gold signed back in June and is coming off a strong Swiss National League performance.

Biasca spent the last couple of seasons in the Swiss National League with EV Zug, and in 129 games, he recorded 30 goals and 22 assists. He also spent time in the QMJHL with the Halifax Mooseheads with 37 goals and 44 assists in 118 games. Biasca also suited up for Switzerland in the 2026 IIHF World Championship and had a goal and three assists.
