After opening the season with a loss at home last weekend against Alaska, the Boston College hockey team kicked off a two-game weekend series at home against St. Cloud State on Thursday night at Conte Forum. In a rare scheduling twist, the second game isn't until Saturday night in Chestnut Hill.

After being frustrated in their opener, the Eagles picked up their first win of the season with a 4-0 shutout of the Huskies. The Eagles got second-period goals and then pulled away with two more in the third period for the 4-0 victory. Boston Bruins first-round draft pick Dean Letourneau, who is quickly becoming one of the top Black and Gold prospects, sealed the win with an empty-net goal with over five minutes remaining.

He was noticeable all night long, playing in all situations and even had a good scoring opportunity shorthanded in the second period, which was denied. He played on the top line for head coach Greg Brown. However, another Bruins prospect was missing from the lineup for Boston College, and after the game, Brown didn't give a promising update.

Morre, a second-round pick of the Bruins in the 2025 Entry Draft, missed his second straight game, and it doesn't sound like he's returning anytime soon, according Brown, per Conor Ryan of the Boston Globe.

“He was injured,” Brown said. “Probably doesn’t look like he’s coming back too soon. Very unfortunate.”

As a freshman for BC last season, Moore had four goals and 10 points and showed some very positive signs for a college rookie. However, as Letourneau did a year ago, Moore was looking for a huge sophomore season for the Eagles, but it doesn't sound like he'll get an opportunity to give it a shot anytime soon after playing in 33 games as a freshman.

Letourneau will be a big part of the Eagles this season, and fellow Boston prospect Will Zellers is off to a scorching start with North Dakota, which is a promising sign. It wouldn't be surprising to see Letourneau and Zellers sign with the Black and Gold following their upcoming seasons. As for Moore, he is quietly another one of the Bruins prospects who have a big pipeline that goes through Boston College. It's early in the season, and BC will give him all the time he needs to fully recover before he plays in a game.
