Three days are down for the Boston Bruins in training camp, and believe it or not, they will kick off the preseason slate on Sunday at the TD Garden against the Washington Capitals. This year, the preseason games have been cut from six to four per the new CBA and the league going to an 84-game schedule.
This year, there are rules surrounding the preseason games as any player who has played in 100 or more NHL games is only allowed to play in two preseason games. This year's preseason slate has their second home game on Tuesday night against the Philadelphia Flyers, before a trip to Philadelphia and Washington, and then the season opener at TD Garden against the New York Rangers on Sept. 29.
Bruins' first round of cuts is coming
According to Mark Divver, the Providence Bruins will have their first American Hockey League (AHL) practice on Monday. That means some players are going to need to be assigned from Boston's training camp, and some cuts are coming. Usually, there are not really many, if any, surprises in the first round of cuts.
Expect some younger players to get an extended look in some preseason games. Anyone who has not played in 100 or more NHL games will likely get at least three looks. The options are going to be limited. Regardless, there should be some interesting decisions in the first round of cuts.

- According to the NHL, David Pastrnak and Nikita Kucherov of the Tampa Bay Lightning can make history together. Both players are looking for their fifth straight 100-point season, and if they get there, they will join select company, as only two other players born outside North America have achieved that feat.
