After going 10-4-1 to begin the season through October, the Boston Bruins will face a month of November that is a home-heavy slate with their schedule. How home-heavy? Nine of their 11 games in the month will be played on the TD Garden ice.
It begins with the defending Western Conference champion Vegas Golden Knights on Monday night. A lot of how well the month goes, could very well play a big role come the end of the season in where the Black and Gold finish in the Atlantic Division and Eastern Conference.
Bruins are facing a pivotal month of November with home games
As stated above, nine of the 11 games will be in Boston. Eighteen points are available, and you have to think realistically that they likely need 12-14 points to feel good about themselves and call it a successful month. The two road games are this upcoming Thursday night against the Pittsburgh Penguins and Nov. 18 against the Detroit Red Wings. Here is the home slate for the entire month for the Black and Gold.
- Monday: vs. Vegas Golden Knights, 7 p.m.
- November 8: vs. Florida Panthers, 1 p.m.
- November 12: vs. Montreal Canadiens, 7 p.m.
- November 14: vs.Minnesota Wild, 7 p.m.
- November 17: vs. Los Angeles Kings, 7 p.m.
- November 21: vs. Washington Capitals, 7 p.m.
- November 25: vs. Winnipeg Jets, 7 p.m.
- November 27: vs. Toronto Maple Leafs, 1 p.m.
- November 29: vs. Vancouver Canucks, 5 p.m.
There are some tough games in that stretch and some winnable games, but as we saw on Saturday afternoon against the Chicago Blackhawks, nothing is a given in any game. There are three divisional games at home against the Panthers, Canadiens, and Maple Leafs, while the Black and Gold will get. chance for revenge for their first loss of the season against the Wild.
This month will lead up to the all-important American Thanksgiving, where you want to be in a playoff spot on that day, as it usually means that you are in good shape to make the postseason. However, it doesn't mean you will, but it gives you an idea of where you stand.
As is the case for every team, the home and road games all even out in the end, and for the Bruins, you will have a difficult stretch of road games at some point in the season, which makes this upcoming stretch a vital one in terms of points.
