The 2026-27 NHL season opens for the Boston Bruins at home in TD Garden on September 29th. Understandably, die-hard Spoked-B Nation fans will all be in attendance, sporting their favorite sweatahs. But which games on the road are also going to be must-sees? Let's take a look at the road ahead...so far.
Bruins vs. New York Rangers (Jan. 16)
Former favorite goaltender Joonas Korpisalo was part of the trade deal with the Bruins during the off-season. In July, Korpisalo joined rival team NY Rangers in exchange for a 2028 4th round pick and forward prospect winger Kalle Vaisanen. This Finnish skater most recently served as Jeremy Swayman's backup netminder for the past 2 seasons on the Boston team, finishing last season with 14-9-6, a 0.894 save percentage, and allowing goals against at 3.15.
Fans will remember back in the 2025 off season, Korpisalo made it no secret that he was looking for a trade, unless he got to start in more games as the primary goalie. Appearing in more games last season than the one prior, Korpisalo reported, “Kudos to Sway, he was the driving force of our team. And like I said, my part was to chip in and do my part whenever I had the chance to play.” Some of the time, he did well, but it clearly wasn't everything Bruins' management was expecting. Will he hold a grudge towards his fellow teammates when they reunite in October?
Bruins vs. San Jose Sharks (Oct. 13)
Somehow, the San Jose Sharks became a must-see when they defeated our home team last March while breaking their own franchise record. That game was pivotal for the aquatic predators when they set a team record for the most points gathered from players 23 years old or younger in a season, racking up 264. Let's face it. Macklin Celebrini continues to hone his skills, and this kid gives Boston forwards David Pastrnak and Morgan Geekie a run for their money. With 152 game points, 70 goals, and 108 assists in his short 2-year NHL career, 20-year-old Celebrini and his pals are still wanting to take the Bruins down.
Bruins vs. Florida Panthers (Dec. 8)
This match-up is a no-brainer. The Panthers, seemingly desperate to clinch another cup, added to their ever-growing collection of nuisances for this upcoming season. Where else can you find the Tkachuk brothers, 2 Sams: Reinhart & Bennett, and hot-tempered defensemen Radko & Ekblad? Add former Bruins noise-makers Brad Marchand, Johnny Beecher, and Garnet Hathaway, and you've got a good show. Unfortunately, we will have to wait until December for this matchup, but a win over the Cats would make for a very Merry Christmas this year.
Bruins vs. Carolina Hurricanes (Dec. 13)
Who wouldn't want to see a rematch between the B's and the team that eliminated us from the Stanley Cup playoffs last season? Unfortunately, the Canes went on to win the coveted prize with former Providence Bruin Brandon Bussi, but at least we can say the winning team was the team to whom we lost. Nevertheless, Bruins Nation will definitely want to be in the house in Raleigh when this matchup happens in October.
Bruins vs. Montreal Canadiens (Jan. 6)
The most attractive away-from-home game will always be the team we love to hate, the Montreal Canadiens. Only the lucky pack-followers who have been in the Bell Centre know how sweet it is to watch a Bruins win on Canadien ice. No amount of French chanting nor boo's when we hit the ice will be enough to secure the W when the boys move North in January.
Regardless of which of the away games you plan to attend, be sure to secure your seats now for these epic showdowns.
