After shutting out the San Jose Sharks at TD Garden to end November, the Boston Bruins went north for a rivalry matchup with the Toronto Maple Leafs. Boston-Toronto games always entertain, and this one was no exception.

The teams’ first game ended in a 3-2 shootout win for the Bruins. Saturday’s game also took overtime, but it didn’t get all the way to the shootout, with the Bruins prevailing 4-3 in overtime to cap an exciting game all night long.

There are plenty of players to thank for the Bruins win, William Nylander included, but there are 3 who stood out from the rest. Here are the Bruins’ 3 stars of the game from the win.

David Pastrnak

As his famous tweet goes, “Not today Justin.” David Pastrnak had himself another great game, picking up his 14th goal of the season and assists on Kevin Shattenkirk’s first goal with the Bruins and Brad Marchand’s overtime winner.

Through 23 games this season, Pastrnak is now up to 14 goals and 22 assists. He also has points in four of his last six games, tallying two goals and five assists.

Linus Ullmark

Yeah, this one’s an easy choice. The Bruins won in overtime, but they wouldn’t have had the chance to do so if Ullmark hadn’t come up big with a stop on a breakaway from Nylander as time dwindled in overtime. He came up big all night, not just in overtime. He finished with 37 saves on 40 Toronto shots. He earned every bit of his eighth win of the season.

Brad Marchand

Marchand was always going to be someone to watch in this game, given what happened the last time these two teams faced off. Ryan Reaves didn’t get to go after Marchand, being limited to only two shifts after the first period and 5:57 of total ice time.

It was what the captain did in overtime that made him an obvious choice. He’s the one who scored the winner after all, getting control of a flying puck while wide open and sending it into the net that was also wide open due to Joseph Woll being out of position. Game, set, match.

The Bruins look to make it three wins in a row when they host the Columbus Blue Jackets on Sunday as they finish a back-to-back, with Jeremy Swayman expected to start in goal.

dark. Next. Are these Bruins for real?
