On Sunday night, the Boston Bruins announced four roster moves ahead of Monday’s rematch with the Philadelphia.
The moves included sending two players to Providence Bruins camp, putting one player on waivers for purpose of assignment and releasing one player from his Professional Tryout Contract.
The two players being sent down to Providence were forward Brett Harrison, and defenseman Frederic Brunet.
Brunet was a bit of a surprising cut after he was able to tally a goal in two preseason games, while also logging 29:59 of ice time in both losses between the one on Tuesday against the Buffalo Sabres and Friday’s shootout loss to the Philadelphia Flyers.
It’s likely that the Bruins’ front office will keep a close eye on him after his performance in camp.
Harrison was not as surprising of a move, as he was only able to log 24:48 of ice time in his two games that he played. He was unable to notch a point on the scoreboard unfortunately, and was unable to move the needle on the plus-minus rating.
The player released from his PTO was Alex Chiasson, not Danton Heinen. Granted, it was just a PTO and there was no guarantee he would make the team, but he seemed to be a good fit as a journeyman forward, but it wasn’t meant to be.
Much like Harrison, Chiasson was unable to move the needle in the points column; however, he was able to move it in the plus-minus rating, and he was a -1.
The most surprising move on Sunday, however, was to put Michael DiPietro on waivers. DiPietro played well in his one game on Tuesday against the Sabres where he tallied 11 saves on 12 shots on goal.
DiPietro will most likely be sent to Providence where he will serve as a “third” goaltender.
Boston is back in action tonight when they take on the Flyers in their fourth preseason game, this one is on the road. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
