Following an unfortunate ending to the 2021-22 NHL season, Bruins star forward Brad Marchand underwent a double hip arthroscopy and labral repair. This might sound familiar because Bruins legend Tuukka Rask underwent a similar procedure which effectively ended his playing career.

Why Should The Bruins Be Worried About Brad Marchand?

The concerning bit here is that while Marchand isn’t a goaltender, he did have the surgery on both of his hips as opposed to Rask’s procedure being on just one hip. With Brad Marchand being one of the smaller guys in the league it is crucial that his body is right especially because he is not one to shy away from being in the mess of the game, in fact, he relishes that part. Marchand made his career on being the pest of the league that Bruins fans loved and everyone else hated.

Marchand had a great season last year. The 34-year-old forward put up 80 points in just 70 games played and, over his career, has put himself in the ranks of Bruins legends. Marchand is currently the 7th all-time leading scorer for the Bruins. Suffice to say that Brad Marchand is a pivotal part of this current Bruins Roster.

Bruins fans long to forget the attempted comeback by Rask and those same people hope that Marchand won’t suffer from a similar result after the surgery.

Hopefully, Marchand is able to come back fully healthy and he can contribute at the same level he has done over the course of his career. The star forward will be welcomed back with some familiar faces after the Bruins brought back legends Patrice Bergeron and David Krejci.

The Bruins do seem to have gotten his replacement for when it is time for him to hang it up for good.
