Ugly, ugly, ugly. The Boston Bruins ended their three-game road trip with a 6-1 loss to the Dallas Stars on Sunday.

Linus Ullmark was pulled in the second period after allowing four goals, ending his night with 11 saves on 15 shots. Jeremy Swayman allowed two more goals on 14 shots faced. Craig Smith scored the lone goal for the Bruins.

Boston ends its road trip 1-1-1, going back home with a meager three points.

1st period

Tyler Seguin and Alexander Radulov got the Stars’ scoring going in the first period.

A bad bounce on the Seguin goal, horrible breakdown on the Radulov goal. No one covers for Derek Forbort who is stepping up in the neutral zone. Jake DeBrusk just stands to the side and Mike Reilly creeps up ice too far.

2-0 Dallas after one.

2nd period

Chance for Charlie McAvoy early but Jake Oettinger made a great pad save.

Before you knew it, it was 4-0 Stars thanks to goals by Luke Glendening and Jamie Benn.

Ullmark was late to reset on the Glendening goal, Benn left alone in the slot for his. That would end Ullmark’s night, by no means all his fault the Bruins were down, but they needed a spark.

4-0 after two.

3rd period

Roope Hintz made it a handful of tallies with a power play goal in the third.

Smith scored to end the shutout before Seguin potted his second of the night. 6-1 the final.

Notes

  • I really don’t know what else to say but ugly. Defensive breakdowns everywhere, not great goaltending, nothing doing offensively
  • If Don Sweeney needed anymore convincing this team needs a trade to be made, this game. Right here. Exhibit A
  • Not an impressive road trip. At all. Great first two periods against the Avs. The it was downhill from there. Blew the two-goal lead in Colorado, barely got by the Coyotes and then were blown out in Dallas
  • I don’t like the skyline green for Dallas. It looks like they are wearing glow-in-the-dark uniforms or highlighters. Save that for the ECHL. Yes, this is likely also because I’m bitter over how bad the Bruins were

Don’t really have much else. Not the best hockey to close out what was an excellent January.

The trade value for this Bruins defenseman is on the rise. dark. Next

Boston certainly can use the All-Star break. Just one game this week against the Seattle Kraken on Tuesday, a very winnable game. I don’t want to see the performance in the win against Arizona, I want a SOUNDING dub before the break.
