After Jeremy Swayman‘s fantastic performance in the season opener, it is not surprising to hear that the Boston Bruins are going to roll with him again when they take on the Philadelphia Flyers Wednesday night. The Flyers will be coming in hot, as they just spanked the Seattle Kraken by a 6-1 score Monday night. Thus, Swayman will be facing a Flyers’ offense that is feeling very confident.

What about Linus Ullmark, though? Don’t worry, Bruin fans, you will be able to see the 28-year-old goaltender shortly. Head coach Bruce Cassidy also confirmed today that Ullmark will make his debut against the Buffalo Sabres Friday night. Thus, he will be visiting his old team at the KeyBank Center. That’s an interesting way for him to begin his tenure with the Bruins.

Ultimately, these two decisions seem like the correct ones by Cassidy upon first glance. Out of the two teams, the Flyers certainly pose a bigger threat. Therefore, electing to go with a red-hot Swayman certainly makes sense. In the season opener against the Dallas Stars, he saved 27 out of 28 shots and outperformed a very solid Braden Holtby in the process. Without Swayman’s dominance in the first game, the Bruins may not have secured the win.

However, the Bruins should not take the rebuilding Sabres lightly by any means. They have started off the regular season undefeated in their first two games. Their season opener was particularly impressive, as they defeated the Montreal Canadiens by a 5-1 score. This is a team who will be trying to prove a lot of people wrong, so don’t be surprised if they play with a ton of effort. Therefore, Ullmark will need to be on his A game.

However, with Ullmark’s preseason struggles, it makes sense for him to go up against a team who many envision ending the regular season at the bottom of the NHL. Perhaps going up against his former team will spark him even more. However, for now, the Bruins of course have to focus on their tough upcoming battle against the Flyers.
