The last week was not too kind to the Boston Bruins. They split their two games with the Washington Capitals, before being shutout Sunday night at the TD Garden by the New Jersey Devils, 1-0.

Here are three stars of the week for the Bruins in those three games.

3. Trent Frederic

The Bruins rookie is quickly becoming a fan favorite with his hustle, physical style of play, and now some goal-scoring. Friday night against the Capitals, the Black and Gold were clinging to a 1-0 lead in the second period when he got things rolling in the middle period.

Frederic was in front of the net and was able to redirect a pass from defensemen, Charlie McAvoy, into an open net for a 2-0 lead. That goal started a three-goal outburst in the period that gave the Bruins a commanding 4-0 lead.

For good measure, he dropped the gloves for a second time this season with Tom Wilson in the third period, in response to his hit earlier in the game on Brandon Carlo.

2. David Pastrnak

Wednesday night in a 2-1 loss to the Caps, Pasta scored the Bruins’ only goal in the third period. In the first period, the right-winger had a breakaway, but his shot rang off the post. Friday night, he picked up an assist on beautiful tic-tac-toe passing play from the Bruins that led to a Patrice Bergeron goal.

Sunday, Boston had 40 shots on Devils goalie Scott Wedgewood and Pastrnak led the team with 10. Unfortunately for Patsa and his teammates, nothing got by Wedgewood.

1. Brad Marchand

The Bruins scored six goals in two games against the Capitals and Marchand was part of four of them. He assisted Pastrnak’s goal Wednesday night against Washington, but his best performance was Friday night.

He scored two goals and had the primary assist on Bergeron’s goal in the 5-1 victory over former captain Zdeno Chara and the Caps. He scored the game’s first goal in the first period on a backhander from the slot, then tapped in a beautiful cross-ice pass from Matt Grzelcyk late in the second period for a commanding four-goal Bruins lead.

Even more impressive for Marchand last week, was that he finished with a plus/minus (+/-) rating of plus-3.
