Bruins Sign Curtis Hall to Entry Level Contract
Following his sophomore season at Yale University last season, Boston Bruins prospect Curtis Hall was hoping to follow that up with an even better I junior season in 2020-21. That dream came to a crashing halt last fall when the Ivy League canceled the winter sports season over concerns with the coronavirus pandemic.
Following the announcement from the Ivy League, Hall made the decision to for-go his final two years with the Bulldogs and decided to turn pro. On Monday, Bruins general manager Don Sweeney announced that the Black and Gold signed Hall to a three-year Entry Level contract with a $925,000 cap hit.
Hall signed a one-year AHL contract with the Providence Bruins in January to join them for their 26-game season. Unfortunately, he was injured after just one game and remains sidelined with a lower-body injury, but that didn’t stop Sweeney and the front office to ink Hall to his entry-level deal.
The Bruins are getting a highly-skilled forward in Hall.
Last season at Yale in 28 games, Hall led the Bulldogs in scoring with 17 goals and 10 assists with a plus-14, which earned a spot on the All-Ivy League second-team as voted by the coaches. As a freshman, he had five goals and six assists in 24 games.
Selected 119th overall in the 2018 NHL Entry Draft, he scored 20 goals and had 32 assists in two seasons with the Youngstown Phantoms in the United States Hockey League from 2016-2018. At 6-foot-3 and 214 pounds, Hall plays a physical game, and was recently ranked as the originations’ 6th top prospect by The Athletic.
It’s clear that Sweeney and the Bruins like what they have in Hall. Once he returns from his injury in Providence, Boston is hoping that development continues to grow as it did in his two years at Yale.
