The Boston Bruins have two prospects playing in the IIHF WJC this year, so fans should keep an eye on them. Here’s everything you need to know to do this.

A few days ago the official 25-man rosters of the countries participating in the 2021 IIHF WJC were announced. For the Boston Bruins, two prospects made their teams.

These prospects are defenseman Roman Bychkov and forward Matias Mäntykivi. Bychkov will be playing for Team Russia and Mäntykivi will be playing for Team Finland.

Both prospects were drafted by the Bruins in 2019 and just a round apart. Bychkov was selected in the fifth round at 154th overall and Mäntykivi was selected at 185th overall in the sixth round.

Boston would’ve had three prospects in the tournament as 2019 first-round (30th overall) pick, forward Johnny Beecher, was set to play for Team USA. However, he unfortunately tested positive for COVID-19 and was cut.

WJC schedule and TV information for the Boston Bruins prospects.

With the tournament starting on Dec. 25, which is just eight days away, I figured it was an appropriate time to write this piece.

I will only be writing out the schedules for Team Finland and Team Russia and these are the teams that Mäntykivi and Bychkov are playing for. If you are interested in seeing the entire WJC schedule, click here.
