Who between David Pastrnak and Brad Marchand is the favorite to score more for the Boston Bruins in the 2021 season?

All NHL fans are familiar with the famed “Perfection Line.” The Boston Bruins first line of Brad Marchand – Patrice Bergeron – David Pastrnak have struck fear into the eyes of opposing defenses for the last few years. Even Montreal and Toronto fans would admit that they are one of the most lethal lines in hockey. Marchy’s playmaking ability, Bergy’s hockey IQ/defensive acumen and Pasta’s filthy release create a mismatch against any opposing line in the league.

Bergy is a guy you can count on for 60 points a year and is a model of consistency on this Boston Bruins team and in the league. The last few years though, Marchand and Pastrnak have been putting up massive point totals. This season both were top 10 in league scoring.

So who is the favorite to lead the Boston Bruins in scoring next season?

Unfortunately, Marchand and Pastrnak both underwent offseason surgeries after being bounced from the Toronto playoff bubble. The time these two will miss will depend on when the NHL decides to begin next season. The most recent reports suggest commissioner Gary Bettman and the NHLPA are still aiming for a Jan. 1 start date. Based on their approximated recovery times this would only cost Marchand to miss a few weeks, while Pastrnak would be set to miss over a month.

This certainly suggests the early odds would favor Marchand to lead the Bruins in scoring this upcoming season. Saying this, we still don’t know how condensed the NHL season will be for 2021. Marchy has had scoring numbers of at least the high 80’s in the past four seasons with a spike of 100 points during the 2018-2019 season.

Pastrnak has had a steady scoring increase every season since entering the league with the Bruins in the 2014-2015 season. The young stud hit 95 points in a shortened 2019-2020 season, tying Artemi Panarin for third in league scoring. Pasta also shared the Rocket Richard Trophy with Alex Ovechkin for the league lead in goals.

dark. Next. What if the Bruins are done signing free agent forwards?

Marchand certainly has the number of games to be played advantage, but a healthy Pastrnak who has consistently gotten better year after year is also tough to bet against. If you’re a Bruins fan all you can do is smile. Not many teams have two threats to lead the league in scoring year after year.
