Boston Bruins: Updates on prospects playing overseas

Boston Bruins’ prospects playing in the Liiga and Slovakia:

Matias Mäntykivi, Center

Mäntykivi was drafted by the Bruins in the sixth round (185th-overall) in 2019. He has yet to play a game in North America.

So far this season for SaiPa of the Liiga, the 19-year-old has played in nine games. In these nine games, the young center has recorded just two assists, two penalty minutes, and a -5 rating.

In 2019-20, Mäntykivi played two games for SaiPa U20 of the Jr. A SM-Liiga, eight games on loan for Ketterä of the Mestis, and 42 games for SaiPa.

In his two games for SaiPa U20, Mäntykivi scored two points (one goal and one assist), registered no penalty minutes, and had a rating of +1.

With Ketterä, Mäntykivi recorded seven assists, six penalty minutes, and a -5 rating.

For SaiPa, Mäntykivi registered six points (three goals and three assists), eight penalty minutes, and a -9 +/-.

Nick Wolff, Defenseman

The Bruins signed Wolff in March to a one-year deal with a cap hit of $792,500 after the young defenseman finished four years of college and was an undrafted free agent.

The 24-year-old played all four years at the University of Minnesota-Duluth, which included being the captain of the team for the 2019-20 season. In 2019-20, his last season, Wolff played 33 games and registered 10 assists, 42 penalty minutes, and a +18 rating.

This season, Wolff has been playing on loan for DVTK Jegesmedvék in Slovakia. So far, he has suited up for four games, producing two assists, eight penalty minutes, and an even +/-.
