Will Boston Bruins prospect Trent Frederic get the call up to the NHL that he deserves?
No one is really sure why the young Bruins star is stuck with the farm team of the Boston Bruins, the Providence Bruins. The Providence Bruins are a young team full of potential talent and skill but Trent Frederic has set himself apart from the others with his team-leading amount of assists over the course of this season.
The 6’3″ 203-pound center man has racked up 19 assists leading the young farm team. Not only that but he sets a physical presence that the Boston Bruins have been lacking.
He also has surpassed his previous career-high of 11 assists and has already matched his career-high of 25 points through the 43 games he’s played so far this season

Trent Frederic could bring that physicality that the Bruins have been lacking and could slide right in on the third line with Karson Khulman and Anders Bjork as center, pushing Charlie Coyle up to the second line to be a right-winger for David Krejci. I truly think Frederic could thrive in that position with those wingers.
Also, Anders Bjork has shown that he has a terrific finish and with Frederic’s passing and ability to create assists that line could bolster the Bruin’s offense immensely.
Trent Frederic leads the American Hockey League in penalty minutes this season with 104 PIM. This stat is typically looked at in a negative way however, most of those penalty minutes are from fights that set a tone for the rest of the game.
This is something that the Boston Bruins could benefit from. The Boston Bruins haven’t been as physical as they have been in previous seasons and don’t set a physical tone in games so they constantly get taken advantage of in situations where they are needing to set a physical tone against a physical team.
Frederic still has a long way to go in his young developing career to be one of those guys the Boston Bruins can constantly rely on.
But the past few months the Bruins have needed someone to set a physical tone for the team and Trent Frederic could be the guy to do it.
