Congratulation to David Pastrnak, captain of the Atlantic Division for the 2020 NHL All-Star Game!

David Pastrnak is well on his way to the best season of his career, and he has the stats and the accolades to show it. After a few player of the week awards, he now has something that really sets his year apart.

On Saturday night, the NHL named Pastrnak captain of the Atlantic Division for the 2020 NHL All-Star Game in St. Louis.

This is the first time Pastrnak is captain of the Atlantic Division team. In fact, he’s the first Bruin to earn this honor.

Pastrnak’s captain nomination is the result of a fan vote. The other division captains are Alex Ovechkin (Metropolitan), Connor McDavid (Pacific), and Nathan MacKinnon (Central).

That’s quite the exclusive group for Pastrnak. Ovechkin is a first-ballot Hall of Famer, and McDavid and MacKinnon might be the two best forwards in the league.

David Pastrnak is in the middle of an incredible offensive season

Fans might be a little surprised to see a Bruins forward as an All-Star Game captain, but Pastrnak certainly deserves the honor.

Through his first 36 games, Pastrnak leads the entire NHL with 28 goals. He also has 22 assists for 50 points.

Pastrnak does a lot of his damage on the power play. He has 13 power play goals, more than any other player in the league. Actually, those 13 goals are more than some teams!

Every night Pastrnak seems to have something new up his sleeve. He’s a big reason why the Bruins, even after their recent struggles, remain comfortably at the top of the Atlantic Division.

Pastrnak will make his second appearance in the All-Star Game

Pastrnak made his first All-Star appearance last year, so the 2020 game will be his second. Since he’s only 23, don’t expect this one to be the last.

We don’t know the rest of the All-Star rosters, but you can be sure other Bruins players will join Pastrnak. Brad Marchand seems like an obvious choice given his season. Patrice Bergeron and Tuukka Rask have great shots as well.

We can watch Pastrnak captain the Atlantic Division in the All-Star Game on Saturday, January 25 in St. Louis.
