Boston Bruins unveil new third jerseys for Black Friday
The Boston Bruins held a special event for season ticket holders on Sunday afternoon. During the event, the Bruins unveiled a brand new third jersey.
In the official release, the Bruins say that the jersey pays tribute to the jerseys of the 1940’s and 1950’s.
At first glance, these new jerseys get the job done.
The Bruins stuck with the black theme to coincide with Black Friday. This theme certainly works.
There’s an all-black look that goes on with the jersey, socks, pants, and gloves. The whole setup is super-sleek and simple.
With so much black, the gold varsity-style B logo really stands out on the front of the jersey. It conjures memories of Bruins past, when they wore jerseys without the spoked-B.
The black jersey also helps highlight the gold and white lines at the bottom of the sleeves and the collar. The gold especially looks nice as it runs counter to the black jersey.
This new third jersey looks like a combination of some of Boston’s more recent third jersey options.
If you recall, the original Black Friday jerseys had the similar black setup, but there was the gold logo with the bear on the front.
The new third jersey looks almost the same, with the exception of the logo on the front. The logo on the new jersey is the original B logo that we saw with last year’s Winter Classic jerseys.
The original B logo looks better than that bear logo on the old third jerseys. Honestly, while the bear logo is kind of unique, it’s nothing special. At least the B logo has some history behind it.
Something else that works with these new third jerseys are the shoulders. It looks like there isn’t a logo or anything at all on the shoulders. The shoulders are plain black.
This plainness is the right idea. A lot of jerseys nowadays have too much that goes on, and this takes away from what’s really important: the logo on the front and the numbers.
The original Black Friday jerseys, for example, had the spoked-B on the shoulders, and they didn’t really fit.
This new one solves that problem.
The Bruins are set to debut these jerseys on the ice on Black Friday against the New York Rangers. They will wear the jerseys 11 times this season.
Any fans who want to purchase the jersey have to wait until November 26, which of course is Black Friday. This jersey serves as the perfect holiday gift!
