In another late start for Boston Bruins, they’ll be starting at 9:00PM EDT as they take on the Arizona Coyotes. Here’s what to expect.
The Boston Bruins will arrive in Arizona having starting their season with a 2-1 win against the Dallas Stars. Their opponent, meanwhile, found itself ousted 2-1 by a rebuilding Anaheim Ducks outfit, albeit on the road.
This will be the Coyotes’ home opener and they’ll no doubt hope to step up their game against our Bruins, so we’ll have to ensure we’re ready for them. I would say the Gila River Center will be pumping, but I’m not sure it gets that loud in the desert!
For the Boston Bruins, opening night went really well considering that David Krejci didn’t end up skating, while newcomers Par Lindholm and Brett Ritchie both acquitted themselves very well and look to be effective additions, even if they eventually end up in their long-term spot is the bottom-half of the line-up.

Given Krejci was a game-time decision two days ago, you’d have to imagine that he’s raring to go in Arizona, but equally we’re not averse to giving the guy a longer rest. It’s a long season ahead and a couple of nights off could be useful for him.
There is at least one familiar face for Boston Bruins fans that’ll be suiting up for the Coyotes; Phil Kessel ended up in the desert after a summer trade saw Alex Galchenyuk head to the Pittsburgh Penguins. He is a player that obviously has quite some talent and will need to be quieted by the Boston defense.
Aside from Kessel, the Arizona line-up doesn’t exactly strike much fear into us; you’re talking Derek Stepan as the first-line center. No offense, he’s reliable but he’s not exactly an elite-tier center in the NHL.
In this same fixture last season, it was Jaroslav Halak that shone particularly brightly leading the Boston Bruins to a 2-1 win. Whether or not he gets the nod tonight is another question; you’d imagine that Tuukka Rask won’t be feeling too run-down after just one game and with a day’s rest in-between.
