We are just few hours away from the Free Agents Frenzy, beginning on the first of July on Monday. The latest edition of the Boston Bruins rumors is back with three interesting hits. Let’s get started!

The Boston Bruins rumors got some heat over the past couple of days. On Friday, with the Development Camp finishing, the Bruins General Manager, Don Sweeney, talked about the Bruins approach to the first of July start of the free agents market. The Boston Bruins GM even said, that Boston will add players, for sure. So, what to expect from the Bruins on Monday and onwards?

Marcus Johansson

The biggest Boston Bruins ‘dream’ of the offseason was to keep a pending free agent Marcus Johansson in Boston after his great playoffs with the Bruins. Nevertheless, keeping him was always a very long shot. As Darren Dreger reports, Johansson will have a plenty of those interested.

It does seem that the Bruins with the limited salary cap space have little chances how to attract Johansson. The 28-year-old winger will demand a raise from his $4,6 million annual salary. The Boston Bruins will have a lot of work to be done with their pending restricted free agents as Brandon Carlo, Charlie McAvoy and Danton Heinen.

More from Rumors

Anything may happen, but it surely seems that the Bruins will part the ways with Marcus Johansson. Unless there is some last minute surprise, the Swedish winger will not return to Boston. The number of those interested is very, very high.

Ryan Carpenter

Who is this guy, you may ask at first glance? The Boston Bruins are in the market not to sign Matt Duchene or Artemi Panarin. But what about Ryan Carpenter? No, we are not making this stuff up, it was reported by Mark Lazerus from The Athletic.

Apart from the Bruins, the Colorado Avalanche and the Chicago Blackhawks are a part of the final trio of the teams interested. As of now, it looks like Carpenter ends up in one of those three destinations.

Ryan Carpenter is a center, who might play on the right wing. Last season, Carpenter played in 68 games with the Vegas Golden Knights collecting five goals and 13 assists for 18 points. Carpenter, an undrafted forward, was a waiver-list pick up by Vegas after being placed there by the San Jose Sharks in the 2017-18 season. After the Golden Knights provided him with the fresh chance, Carpenter gathered 14 points in 36 regular season games and another five assists in 17 playoff games as he almost put his name on the Stanley Cup.

It definitely appears like if the Boston Bruins add some players to help them on the right side of the attack, it will be some kind of a player like Ryan Carpenter.

Bruins in mix for two free agents

These two players might seen like a bit of a long shot for the Bruins. Certainly similar to the Marcus Johansson situation, but they have been the part of the Boston Bruins rumors for awhile. As per The Fourth Period list of top free agents, the Bruins are in the mix for forwards Mats Zuccarello and Ryan Dzingel.

For the most of the Bruins fans, this is nothing new. But do the Bruins actually have a chance at either Dzingel or Zuccarello?

Ryan Dzingel had impressive 56 points in 78 games between the Ottawa Senators and the Columbus Blue Jackets last season. In the playoffs, Dzingel turned off with just one lone goal in nine playoff contests and being a healthy scratch for one game versus the Bruins.

On the other note, Zuccarello had a tremendous playoffs with the Dallas Stars. The 31-year-old winger had 11 points in 13 games. Both would fill the Bruins need – play as a big right winger on the David Krejci’s second line. Both would help, but both would cost same or maybe a little bit less than Marcus Johansson.

Next. Five free agent signings that'd be great for Boston. dark

But on the flip of that, Johansson is strictly a left winger and if the Bruins pay, they pay for a right winger. Whether or not the Bruins will add just a single player such as Carpenter, or maybe Dzingel, we shall see.
