Boston Bruins: David Ortiz the perfect motivator for team to rally round

By now, the world knows that former Major League Baseball player David Ortiz was shot in the back in the Dominican Republic this past Sunday. The Boston Bruins need to rally around on behalf of all Boston sports fans.

While the stories continue to come out of why it happened and how David Ortiz is doing, one thing has not changed. How important David Ortiz is to the city of Boston, which is why the Boston Bruins will rally around Boston’s hero in Game 7.

#PapiStrong has become a thing of so much of the Boston faithful as possibly the most beloved athlete in the history of Boston was attacked on Sunday night. There isn’t another city in this world that comes together better than Boston. Looking at you, Bruins.

The Boston Bruins were going to play at the best of their ability as they host Game 7 of the Stanley Cup Finals tonight in hopes of bring home Lord Stanley’s Cup. But the events that occurred Sunday night and having David Ortiz in town during the game will give them the extra edge they need to go out and defeat the St. Louis Blues.

David Ortiz has been apart of three World Series Championships with the Boston Red Sox, which include two victories over St. Louis’ Cardinals. And not only was he a part, but he was the key cog in all three.

The clutchest player in the history of sports has been by the side of each Boston playoff run that doesn’t necessarily involve the Red Sox. With the Boston faithful and the Boston Bruins sure to have one of Boston’s icons on their mind heading into the game, they must use that as a strength.

Taking the leadership and clutch attribute from Boston’s injured hero can be a true advantage. Ortiz was the one who went out in front of the Boston crowd following the Boston bombings and jolted Boston with the truest words he could deliver from his own heart. Now, the Boston Bruins must do for him what David Ortiz did for the city of Boston. Which is winning that Cup while rallying behind him.

The banner captain has been rumored forever to be some of the biggest stars in Boston, whether that be Bobby Orr, Ray Bourque, Connor McGregor or Tom Brady but what more people hope than anything is the banner captain dons the jersey of Big Papi himself.
