For Boston Bruins fans, this never gets old. However, for fans of hockey, its time to once again recognise the silent assassin of the NHL. Patrice Bergeron plays every single game to the highest level, never giving up on offense of defense.

He doesn’t look for the recognition of a Sidney Crosby or Connor McDavid, but he sure deserves it. The level of performance from Patrice Bergeron so far in the playoffs has been incredible which really does not come as a shock to the Boston Bruins faithful.

In 17 playoff games so far this season, Bergeron has eight goals and five assists, totalling 13 points. He has been the top guy on the playoffs’ best power play as well, scoring six of his eight goals on it. And of course, you can always count on him to get it done, with two goals being game winners.

A statistic that many fans overlook, but should not, is his 59.29 face-off percentage that is a sure advantage on the ice for the Boston Bruins.

With a plus/minus of +8, that goes to show his domination on both sides of the puck, as he remains the best defensive forward in hockey history.

The four-time Selke Trophy winner continues to give the Boston Bruins even more of an advantage with his undying ability to do anything in hopes of helping the team on defense. Whether it is blocking shots, stick checking, or simply just getting his stick into lanes to create a problem for the opponents, it makes any fan smile wide.

Boston Bruins legend Ray Bourque had the perfect quote while talking to NBC Sports Boston to define exactly who Patrice Bergeron is as a player saying, “I know he looks for perfection every single day, and I was looking for the same thing knowing I would never reach it, but that makes you the best you can be every single day.”

The ability to put it all on the line to be as perfect as he could ever be game in and game out is why Patrice Bergeron continues to carve his place in the history of the Boston Bruins and entire NHL as one of the best.

When some players are off the ice due to injury or penalty, you never can really tell, but any time Patrice Bergeron is sent to the box you can hear Bruins fans expressing some fear that they won’t kill the penalty without their superstar.

In just 65 games this season, Bergeron had a career high 79 points, but you would never know it. The silent assassin continues to just do his thing and put his heart out on the ice game in and game out in hopes of lifting that Stanley Cup once again.

Next. Bruins must use Binnington's time with Providence. dark

Starting Monday, all the hard work and dedication by Patrice Bergeron looks to find that result once again as the Bruins prepare for Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Final against the St. Louis Blues.
