The Boston Bruins won their third straight game at home. The Bruins got on the board early in the first Saturday night thanks to Brad Marchand’s power play goal. Marchand started today playing in his 666th game, and also came into Saturday’s game with 666 PIM. Facing the Devils, we had a feeling that was a sign. Marchand now has 27 goals on the season.
Tuukka Rask played very well tonight and looked in playoff form, earning his 3rd shutout of the season. He has been unbeaten in his last 17 appearances. He had 20 saves tonight in the shutout victory, and took the first star of the game.
Bruins out shot the Devils 30 – 20, but the Devils handled the face off circle tonight winning that battle 26-19. At the end of the game, the Bruins had two missed chances at an empty net goal and had to defiantly play defense. Rask came up with a great save on Jesper Bratt in the waining moments.
The B’s took two penalties tonight but made sure they killed them off while the Devils had one penalty and gave up the loan goal to Marchand.
The Bruins will look to continue their march towards the playoffs Tuesday against Carolina. They need to be more physical and also control the face off circle more. Despite those issues the Bruins look solid heading down the stretch.
