Well, wasn’t that a whirlwind 12 hours? Believe it or not, there was a hockey game last night for the Boston Bruins, and a game tonight as well.
So, for those who have been living under a rock for the last 12 hours, things are percolating in the Atlantic Division. First, the Boston Bruins unfortunately lost to the Toronto Maple Leafs last night, ceding 2nd place in the Division to Toronto. The game was marred by a terrible call by the NHL at the end on a play where Tuukka Rask was clearly interfered with on Toronto’s game-winning goal.
During the game, however, Twitter was ablaze with news that the Bruins were putting the full court press on the Rangers to acquire Rick Nash. And as many people were eating breakfast this morning, the news officially broke: Rick Nash would be joining the Bruins. The Bruins gave up Ryan Spooner, Ryan Lindgren, Matt Beleskey, a 2018 1st round pick, and a 2019 7th round pick.
This appears to be a steep price, but it’s really all going to be worth it come April. Just you watch. But the craziness news is that apparently Nash plans to be in Buffalo and play for the Bruins tonight! The Bruins have struggled against the hapless Sabres this season, and given the fact that Toronto and Tampa Bay keep winning, they need to not lose these gimmie-games.

Tonight’s game will be played less than 24 hours after their game yesterday, slated for a 5:00 pm puck drop at the KeyBank Center in Buffalo, NY. The game will be on NESN and 98.5 The Sports Hub. Oh, and did we mention that Rick Nash will possibly play tonight?
What to watch for
Bruins fans were given quite the scare last night when it was all over the internet that Patrice Bergeron left the locker room in a walking boot. However, reports are that he’s doing okay, and he is a gametime decision as to whether he plays tonight. I would advise the cautious approach, given how important he is to the lineup. But that’s just me.
In case we didn’t mention it, Rick Nash plans to be in Buffalo and play for the Bruins tonight. He’ll probably slot right in next to David Krejci and Jake DeBrusk on the 2nd line. Wouldn’t surprise me if he uses his time in Boston as an audition for his next deal. So expect some fireworks from him.
Next: Bruins go all in, acquire Rick Nash
Anton Khudobin will be in the net tonight after Rask started last night. Here’s hoping he can be the same Khudobin who shutout Buffalo back in December.
