Remember fans, it’s only been three games.  Yes, in those three games, the Bruins have given up 13 goals and could easily be 0-3-0 as opposed to 1-2-0.  However, the Boston Bruins have two days before their next game to get their “bear”ings.

More from Causeway Crowd

  • Boston Bruins center Patrice Bergeron didn’t play last night, and the Bruins once again lost.  Coincidence?  Some think not.  The Bruins need Bergeron to get healthy and get back ASAP, or they could end up digging themselves a Standings hole they might not be able to get out of.  WEEI
  • Adam McQuaid, probably the only “enforcer” left on the Bruins roster, had a doozy of a fight last night with Nikita Zadorov.  If you didn’t see it, it’s worth a watch.  YouTube
  • With Bergeron out, clearly the best faceoff guy on the team (and possibly in the league), David Krejci has really stepped up to be the go-to faceoff man in a pinch.  He’s won 62.2% of his faceoffs this season so far (36 wins, 22 losses).  Hockey Reference
  • If the Bruins were going to struggle anywhere this season, many believed it would be up front given the new system and new faces.  However, the Bruins defense appears to be the biggest weakness in the team thus far.  Stanley Cup of Chowder

Around the league…

LOS ANGELES, CA – OCTOBER 11: Jaromir Jagr
LOS ANGELES, CA – OCTOBER 11: Jaromir Jagr /
  • He’s back.  Jaromir Jagr suited up for last night’s game as a member of the Calgary Flames, his 9th NHL team in his career.  While he was held off the score sheet, he played 13:38 and was a -1, but the team came away victorious.  The 45 year old just keeps going.  Sporting News
  • Alexander Ovechkin is EN FUEGO, or however you say “on fire” in Russian.  The Great 8 scored again last night, giving him 8 goals in 4 games.  Ovechkin has outdone himself this season, where his previous 4 game goal high was 5 goals.  NHL
  • The bad blood between LA Kings defenseman Drew Doughty and Calgary Flames forward Matthre Tkachuk continues into this season.  If you remember, Tkachuk laid a, let’s just say, less than legal hit to Doughty last season.  In the teams’ first matchup this season, the two were seen giving each other their best wishes while both were in the penalty box.  The videos really do it justice.  NBC Sports
  • You could flip a coin between Brent Burns and Erik Karlsson as to who is the best defenseman in the NHL.  Unfortunately for Ottawa Senators fans, they’ve been without Karlsson to start the season, and it appears his absence will continue for at least a few more games.  NHL
  • Maybe David Puddy is back painting his face and body for the New Jersey Devils, because you gotta support the team.  And with the team off to a blistering 3-0-0 start with 16 goals scored and only 6 goals allowed, the Devils are definitely and early surprise.  The team is so good right now, they scored a 3-on-5 goal!  New York Post
