After the long wait for game 2 of the season, I think most fans were pretty disappointed in the Boston Bruins game yesterday afternoon.  A flat performance against the Avalanche led to a 4-0 beat down, and left a bad taste in our mouths.

  • The Boston Bruins loss at home against the Avalanche was bad in many ways.  But did you know, the Bruins currently sport a 0-10-1-1 record against the Avalanche at home in their least 12 games, and haven’t beaten them in Boston since March 30, 1998.  For reference, Charlie McAvoy was three months old the last time the Bruins beat the Avs in Boston.  Boston Herald
  • The good news for the Bruins was that Torey Krug returned from injury, and Austin Czarnik was recovered from his illness that kept him out.  WEEI
  • Patrice Bergeron has been skating, and wore a non-contact jersey in practice.  However, he was still out yesterday, and there doesn’t appear to be a timetable for his return.  ESPN
  • The Bruins line-up is incredibly young, and people are lauding the youth movement of the team.  Monday’s matinee was a good test for them.  Unfortunately, the rookies played like rookies in the loss.  NBC Sports

  • The #1 pick in the 2017 NHL Draft, New Jersey Devils forward Nico Hischier, recorded his first NHL regular season point yesterday, assisting on the Devils second goal of the game.  The Devils continued to pour it on, and bludgeoned the Sabres.  Yahoo Sports
  • The Buffalo Sabres have now allowed FOUR shorthanded goals in 3 games this season.  Not exactly how the power play should be run.  Might be why they’re winless on the season.  WKBW
  • In the same game, there was a bit of a whoooopsy.  Yes, that has a lot of “Os” in it, just like Kyle Okposo’s jersey.  Buffalo News
  • The NHL Stars of last week were released yesterday.  (3) The Wayne Train, (2) Flower, and (1) The Great 8 all had great weeks.  Check out what earned them their honors.  NHL
  • The Vegas Golden Knights, with their win over the weekend over the Arizona Coyotes, because the 3rd expansion team to start 2-0-0, and tonight will try to become the first team to start 3-0-0, also against the Coyotes, in the Vegas home opener.  NHL
  • The Hat Trick train continues down the tracks.  Nikolaj Ehlers, in an attempt to solidify himself as the Greatest Dane in the league, potted three against Edmonton last night.  The Hockey News
  • Last night’s game between the Chicago Blackhawks and the Toronto Maple Leafs featured two teams who had scored 15 goals in their first two games.  Powered by an Auston Matthews overtime goal, the Maple Leafs are 3-0-0…watch out league.  Toronto Sun
