Boston Bruins Forward Patrice Bergeron Perfect in Face-Off Attempts in Win Against Tampa Bay Lightning

Patrice Bergeron is the best player in the world when it comes to taking faceoffs. While there are many very talented players in the NHL when it comes to taking draws, nobody compares to the Boston Bruins top centerman. It should come as no surprise, then, that Bergeron finished the game against the Tampa Bay Lightning with a perfect 17-for-17 mark in the faceoff circle.

Bergeron took four offensive-zone faceoffs, eight defensive-zone faceoffs and five in the neutral zone. He ultimately won them all and was a crucial part of the Bruins eventual playoff-clinching win against the Lightning. Though Bergeron has been proving his efficiency in the playoff circle throughout his entire career, it’s still an impressive feat. to be flawless on the draw, especially given the volume of faceoffs he took. It shouldn’t be surprising, though. Bergeron is as consistent as consistent gets in professional sports – something that hasn’t gone unnoticed in Boston over the years.

Solid Team Effort

Despite losing Brad Marchand to an ejection in the first period, the entire Bruins team came to play Tuesday in their most important game of the season. Whether it was Bergeron at the faceoff circle, Rask in net, or even Drew Stafford breaking out of his goal-scoring slump and scoring the eventual game-winning goal, the Bruins earned their win.

David Krejci finished 5-10 for 50 percent. Ryan Spooner finished 4-9 for 56% – including a rare defensive zone draw. Noel Acciari took two defensive-zone faceoffs, finishing 0-2 on the night.
