The Boston Bruins find themselves in trouble after their loss against the Toronto Maple Leafs. With just ten games to go, the Bruins hold onto the third Atlantic spot is slipping away from them.

The Boston Bruins got robbed by the refs with an exceptionally questionable call in the final minutes of the third period. B’s forward Dominic Moore was penalized for nothing more than out playing his Leafs counterpart.

It was a bad call. A rather stupid call. A call that made me once again believe that professional refs should submit to even more random drug screenings.

Unfortunately, that just led the flood gates of negative puck luck for the Black and Gold. The B’s gave up a late power play goal and two empty net goals to hand the Toronto Maple Leafs a 4-2 win.

The Bruins have ten games left in the regular season. The Leafs have one game in hand on the Black and Gold and are now only one point behind them in the standings. This is not the place the Bruins want to be, and the last thing the fans want is to see the B’s go down the same road they’ve been these last two years.

There’s a big reason why the Bruins lost tonight. It wasn’t any one wearing blue. It was the fellows where the black and white striped shirts that cause the loss tonight.

Even the big guys around the sports media world were scratching their head at the one-sided shenanigans performed by the ‘supposedly unbiased’ people in stripes.

The refs were as useless as they possibly could have been this year.  I’d love to formally accuse them of bias after this one. They gave the Leafs opportunities throughout the game that kept them in the game until the moment they officially stole the game for Toronto.

Toronto got away with robbery tonight. That robbery was practically sanctioned by people who are supposed to maintain a level of integrity and professionalism. The Leafs weren’t held accountable for their dirty play.

Let’s not forget this gem of a dirty hit. Hopefully, the Department of Player Safety will see this and do something about it.

I get it. Hockey is Canada’s game. But the NHL doesn’t have to cheat to get more Canadian teams to the playoffs.

Perhaps the NHL should stop trying to bring more teams into the desert. Maybe if they gave those franchises to Canadian cities (who truly want and deserve a stadium [Quebec City]) they’d have better odds.

Thankfully, the Bruins are still in third place in the Atlantic Division. Hopefully, the hockey gods have noticed this travesty and will punish the Leafs in the future.
