The Boston Bruins find themselves on the verge of the outside looking in…again.
The Boston Bruins were able to hold on to a playoff slot throughout their bye week. With the B’s back in action, they find themselves masters of their own fate again. As long as the Bruins continue to win, they’ll still be in the drivers’ seat as the head to the final few weeks of the regular season.
The stakes are high for the Bruins. They’re trying to avoid a third straight season out of the playoffs. They need every possible point.
This is how close it is for the Black and Gold. With a regulation loss, the Bruins will not only lose their third place standing in the Atlantic, they’ll lose the second wild card spot to the Florida Panthers. If the B’s can at least earn a point, they’ll stay in the wild card slot.

Every point is critical now. Usually, the pack has thinned out a bit at this part of the season. This year is certainly different.
The Bruins have 64 points. That puts them on par with the Panthers (who have 2 games in hand) and the New York Islanders (who have 1). The Buffalo Sabres are surprising people by staying in the hunt. They’re only 2 points behind.
It’s still anyone’s game. As you go down the standings, it doesn’t get any easier for Boston. The entire Eastern Conference have a shot of making the playoffs right now. The ‘last place’ Hurricanes are only six points behind the Bruins.
