January was pretty good month for Boston Bruins forward Brad Marchand. The Bruins winger got to participate in his first All-Star Game of his career last week. He’s been one of the best players on the ice for the Boston Bruins and his hot hands are one of the reasons the Bruins have been able to hold on to a playoff spot in the Atlantic Division.
Marchand’s solid play and hot hands were the big reasons why the NHL named him the Second Star of the Month for January.
Marchand has had the hottest hands in the league during January. He led the all NHL scorers with 20 points (11 goals). He’s been the big reason why the Black and Gold were able to scrape together a .500 average during the month of January. (The Bruins went 6-6-2 last month.) He was able to put up at least one point in nine of those 14 games.
Marchand has also been consistent, something many of the Bruins aren’t. He’s had five multi-point games. Three short handed goals, and four shorthanded points. He’s been reliable on both sides of the ice when it comes to special teams, and he’s been doing his best to make up for the passengers on the Black and Gold bus.
The 28-year old Marchand finds himself atop the Bruins leader board yet again this year. Marchand leads the team in goals (23), assists (31), and overall points (54). He’s also in the top ten in the league for overall goals and points. While Marchand still finds himself in hot water for some of his questionable hits, he’s proven to be one of the linchpins for the Boston Bruins these last few seasons.
