To help facilitate more goal production, the Boston Bruins have decided to mix up their forward lines.  The Bruins are hoping that the second line under David Krejci find a second wind.

After last Saturday’s 4-1 loss to the Toronto Maple Leafs the Boston Bruins needed a change. Claude Julien decided to mix up the lines and see if that could provide the offensive spark the Black and Gold so desperately needed.  Julien moved forward David Pastrnak to the second line to play with David Krejci and Tim Schaller.

Pastrnak has been one of the hottest players in the league this year. He’s currently second in scoring and moving him to play with Krejci makes sense. They’ve always had good chemistry. The Bruins are counting on the Czech players to help push the scoring for a team that is among the bottom in the NHL for goal production.

Pastrnak is happy to be back with Krejci.

“[David Krejci] is a highly skilled forward and we’ve played together for a bunch of games, so I know what to expect from him,” said Pastrnak of Krejci, one of the Bruins alternate captains. “He will find me wherever I will be. I just have to be ready, and to have that shooting mindset. Don’t try to be too cute, especially now when we have trouble scoring right now. Just take pucks to the net, and go hard at it.”

The 20-year old Pastrnak has been one of the most consistent players this season for the Bruins. No matter which forward line he’s put on, he’ll be able to perform at a high level for Boston. For his part, he’s happy to play no matter what line he ends up on.

“It’s obviously really to be moved up with those highly skilled guys all four of them,” said Pastrnak of his places on the top two Bruins lines. “They are key players on our team, so for me I’m really happy to be with them. Hopefully we can make some plays and get goals to bring some momentum to our team.

“You shake the lines when you can’t score goals, and most of the time that helps the team score a little bit more. Hopefully we have a good game [against Montreal] and then get going from there.”

The Bruins did have a good game against Montreal on Monday. The Bruins pulled out a 2-1 win against the Habs at the Bell Centre. The Bruins second line put up four shots on goal, five hits, and six blocks in the win. David Pastrank put up two strong blocks to keep the Canadiens off the board.

Krejci appeared to have earned the game winner for Boston one minute into overtime.  Unfortunately, the refs overruled the goal on the grounds of goalie interference.  Still, the Bruins second line looked active and alert and played against the best goaltender in the league. It was a good start to the new second line, and good things are coming for the B’s in the future.
