The Boston Bruins have had trouble finding goals. While the Bruins first and fourth forward lines have been producing, there has been a certain lack of scoring from the rest of the team. The Bruins have needed other players to step up and score, and it looks like Torey Krug is one of those players that is willing to step up.
Torey Krug has put in five points in the last three games. His last-minute goal against the Carolina Hurricanes saved the game for the Black and Gold.
Krug has once again become an all-around player for Boston. He’s finding his offensive touch again. While that’s certainly a bonus, he’s really been picking up the slack on defense. Zdeno Chara and John-Michael Liles are out with injuries, and the Bruins needed someone to be the new number one defenseman. At the moment, Torey Krug is filling that role adequately.
When it comes to his recent point binge, Krug insists it’s just sticking with what works (and a little bit of puck luck). It certainly doesn’t hurt that Krug is willing to step up and drop the gloves if needed for his team.
“I think just pucks are going in, as silly as that sounds,” said Krug of his goal. “I feel like, from an individual standpoint, I’ve been focusing on hitting the net for a while and trying to make some plays and all of a sudden the puck is going in – whether that’s funky bounces or just guys taking advantage of chances I can create – it’s good.
“I’ve been focusing on defense the past few games and I’ve been given some advice and focusing on the defense and all of a sudden it’s like the offensive opportunities are just appearing out of nowhere, so that’s kind of been my thought process.”
Krug has nearly doubled is point total in the last few games. He’s now up to 11 points, good enough for fourth overall on the Bruins scoresheet. For Krug, it’s a matter of counting on his teammates and just working as hard as he can.

“Pasta is a threat right now, so teams are focusing on him and I had a clear shooting lane to the net and guys like Backs get rewarded when they take the goalie’s eyes away and I can get it through there. So, that was a big goal for us.”
