The Boston Bruins have had some ugly luck early in the season when it comes to their back up goaltenders.
Boston Bruins number two netminder Anton Khudobin has had two rough games in net, and has yet to win a game for the Black and Gold. Now, the Khazak goaltender seems to have been injured in practice on Monday. It appears to be some kind of wrist injury, but the Bruins offered nothing definitive on Khudobin’s status.
The Bruins needed a number two to back up Tuukka Rask when the play the Minnesota Wild on Tuesday, so they decide to call up Providence goaltender Malcolm Subban.
From the Boston Bruins website:
“Boston Bruins General Manager Don Sweeney announced today, October 24, that the team has recalled goaltender Malcolm Subban from the Providence Bruins of the American Hockey League on an emergency basis. Subban joined the team for Monday morning’s practice at Warrior Ice Arena.
Over the course of four seasons in the AHL, the 22-year-old Subban has appeared in 99 games, posting a 45-31-15 record.
Subban appeared in 27 games during the 2015-16 season, compiling a 14-8-5 record, a 2.46 GAA, and a .911 save percentage.
