Boston Bruins Prospect Jeremy Lauzon Has Surgery For Neck Laceration In QMJHL Game
There was a scary moment for Boston Bruins prospect Jeremy Lauzon on Friday night. In game five of the Rouyn-Noranda Huskie’s playoff series against the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada, Lauzon was taken out of the game after suffering a laceration to his neck. The Bruins’ young prospect is currently undergoing surgery per Bob McKenzie.
The Boston Bruins drafted Jeremy Lauzon in the second round of the 2015 NHL Entry Draft when he posted 15 goals and 21 assists for 36 points along with 97 hits and 88 penalty minutes in 60 games. He was able to improve upon those numbers this year as he’s posted 10 goals and 40 assists for 50 points along with 86 hits and 80 penalty minutes in 45 games this season.
Lauzon had been performing well in the playoffs as well prior to the laceration as he’s posted one goal and seven assists for eight points along with a plus-9 rating, 10 hits, and eight penalty minutes in in eight games, putting him in eight place among all QMJHL defenseman in the playoffs. Lauzon is a mobile-defender with size at six-foot-two and 193 pounds and he’s proven the Bruins’ use of a second round pick on him right thus far. With his offense-first mindset, it’s clear that he will have to focus on improving his defensive ability to garner a legitimate look any time soon with the Boston Bruins, but the sky is the limit for Lauzon. Defenseman with offensive instincts such as Lauzon has are always in demand in the NHL, and teams often accept a trade-off of offense for defense within reason if the offense is good enough.

There have been multiple examples of players suffering throat lacerations in the NHL, and each is just as scary as the last. Right now, all anybody can do is wait as Lauzon undergoes surgery to repair the damages.
