Providence Bruins forward Seth Griffith was called up along with Austin Czarnik on Wednesday on an emergency basis to help the Boston Bruins deal with the holes in their roster. Czarnik was sent back down to Providence earlier today, and it looks like Seth Griffith will be staying with the team as they head out on their two game road trip. That road trip could very likely decide the fate of team’s position in the post season.

“ Griffith is coming with us, because we still have some question marks there and maintenance guys, so Czarnik will be returning to Providence,” said Bruins Head Coach Claude Julien of the team’s latest roster moves.

Bruins forward Brett Connolly and defenseman Dennis Seidenberg will be staying in Boston during the B’s road trip. Both players have missed their last two practices with undisclosed injuries, although Connolly’s injury stems from the game against New Jersey. Connolly was not on the bench at the start of the second period and did not return to the game. The Bruins lost that game 2-1.

Bruins forward Ryan Spooner and defenseman John-Michael Liles will also be heading on the road.

This is probably the last opportunity for Griffith to make an impression on the Bruins front office. Griffith was called up earlier in the season to play for the NHL club. He played in the last game of 2015 (against Ottawa) and the first game of 2016 (against Montreal). During his brief stay in the spoked ‘B’, he was -4 with an assist.

Griffith’s game has continued to improve in the AHL, and he stands a solid chance of breaking through to make the big club when the Boston Bruins start up training camp in September. He’s put up 67 points (22 goals) in 51 games with Providence.

“I think you just approach it the same as usual — just want to come and help the team out any way you can if you get the chance to play in the game,” said Griffith of his opportunity. “So I’m just taking it day by day and just working hard in practice.”
