It has been a rough California road trip for the Boston Bruins. A few mistakes cost the Bruins an opportunity for points in San Jose. Then the Bruins just fell apart in an ugly 4-0 rout delivered by the Anaheim Ducks. Now, the Bruins have one more chance to salvage something with tonight’s game against the Los Angeles Kings.

“We didn’t come here to go home empty-handed so we’ve got to find a way to get some points here,” said Claude Julien after the Bruins’ disappointing loss in Anaheim. “We let some slip in San Jose and tonight, obviously a 4-0 game, it’s a little tough to say we let them slip away, but you know, we played well enough that we should have had a chance.”

“[Saturday] is one of those games where you’ve got to make it happen,” Julien said. “We’ve got to have some great goaltending. We’ve got to make some timely saves. We’ve got to make sure we cash in on our opportunities and find ways to score goals here.”

“We’re going to play another good team, and right now, we just need to dig a little deeper.”

The Los Angeles Kings last came to Boston and put up a season-high nine goals against the Black and Gold. The Bruins were certainly embarrassed by that loss, and the only way to earn points in this disappointing road trip is to serve up a reversal against Milan Lucic and company.

“We’ve got to move on,” said Bruins forward Matt Beleskey. Beleskey took a high-stick late in the first period against Anaheim, getting a nasty cut under his right eye. Thankfully, Beleskey only got a few stitches and a black eye for the hit. “We need to take some points home on this road trip and that’s a tough loss for us.”

Tampa Bay is only one point behind the Bruins. Detroit is just three points behind. If the Bruins don’t redeem themselves tonight, they’ll find themselves out of a guaranteed slot and back into the wild card shortly. Hopefully, the B’s can turn it around tonight.
