After tearing up the AHL with the Providence Bruins, Frank Vatrano is being given another chance to showcase his talents at the NHL level. It was widely speculated that the Boston Bruins would be making a call-up prior to their first game on their California road trip, and Vatrano seemed as obvious a candidate as anyone.
Frank Vatrano is leading the AHL in goals with 31 goals in his 31 games with the Providence Bruins. He has totaled three hat tricks and six multi-goal games and also has 15 assists giving him a grand total of 46 points. Frank Vatrano currently leads the Providence Bruins in plus/minus with a +15 rating, as well as in points-per-game with a 1.48 mark.

In his first stint with the Boston Bruins, Frank Vatrano payed in 30 games and scored six goals while also adding an assist for seven points total. Vatrano has shown a strong affinity to shoot the puck at every available opportunity which makes it only a matter of time before he starts to climb the goal-scoring chart more consistently at the NHL level. Vatrano currently sits in seventh in the entire AHL with 161 shots taken over his 31 games giving him an average of over five shots taken per game.
Despite being only five-foot-nine and going undrafted, Frank Vatrano weighs a very solid 201 pounds and has proven that he has clear NHL talent. Due to the call-up being made on an emergency basis, it isn’t clear how long the young Massachusetts-native will remain with the big club this time around, or where he will lineup, but the sky is the limit for Vatrano who wants to make an impact on every shift. The call-up comes at an appropriate time as well as Vatrano turned 22 on the very same day.

The Boston Bruins have been very solid as of late, going 5-0-2 since the trade deadline and competing at a very high level against some of the top teams in the league. With the three-game road trip against the California-situated teams coming up for the Bruins, they will need to keep their A-game up as they continue to climb the standings. The Bruins are currently in first place in the Atlantic Division and climbing all the way to second place in the NHL isn’t entirely out of the question for the Bruins prior to the end of the season.
