Boston Bruins Need To Keep Momentum Up After Dallas Win
The Boston Bruins finally put together a game that provided encouragement for both the fans, as well as the management team as the trade deadline nears. The Boston Bruins were backed into a corner early against the Dallas Stars on Saturday night with Tuukka Rask allowing three goals in the first period, but the team was able to regroup quickly and give their goaltender the support he needed.
“It’s a good sign that you can regroup after a first period like that.” Rask said following the game.

The Boston Bruins went on to score six straight goals in the second and third period, starting with Brad Marchand on the power play for his second goal of the night, and his 30th of the season. Kevan Miller, Loui Eriksson, David Krejci — on the power play — Brett Connolly — Empty net — and Matt Beleskey — on the power play — also found twine as they helped the Bruins cruise to a 7-3 victory over the third place team in the entire NHL.
“Made some mistakes, had some unlucky bounces…so we worked back at it, got the goals and got the reward, so it was a great win.” Tuukka Rask said.

The Bruins limited Tyler Seguin to just one shot on net and a -2 rating in 17:43 of ice time, a personal victory for the team that traded Seguin away at just 21 years of age when he was just beginning to enter the prime of his career.
After the Bruins limited the Dallas Stars to a mere nine shots on goal in the final 28 minutes of Saturday night’s game, Claude Julien said “We did what we had to do. We talked about pulling pucks in deep, really forechecking hard.”
With such an important team win in the books, the Bruins will need to use the positive momentum moving forward as the playoff hunt starts to intensify and the trade deadline lingers. After talking about his team’s win, Claude Julien had this to say: “But I think we’ll turn the page here, go back home and realize that first game against Columbus is going to be just as important.”

It’s clear that the Boston Bruins are on the same page at this very pivotal time of the season, with both the coaching staff, as well as the players preaching the same messages. Claude Julien said “We’re even-keeled. We don’t get excited about certain things and we don’t get down with other stuff.” David Krejci mirrored this statement by saying “Obviously it was a big win, especially against a team like that on the road, but we have to stay even-keeled.” He finished by saying “Just kind of go about our business, regroup and come back strong in two days.”
The Bruins 30-goal-man, Brad Marchand, shared the sentiment with his coach and teammate by saying “We showed a lot of character tonight. I thought we have to be happy with this win and hopefully we can build off this momentum.”

If the Bruins wants to prove that this game wasn’t an anomaly, they will need to quickly turn their attention to the Columbus Blue Jackets on Monday. The Bruins went 4-2 on their road trip, including an overtime win over the Blue Jackets, and now they will need to go home and defend their house just six days later.
