A couple of pieces of good news today for fans of the Boston Bruins. The B’s were able to come from behind tonight to take two points away from the Buffalo Sabres. The Bruins are once again in the top three in the Atlantic Division and have an automatic playoff spot. On a brighter note, the Bruins are eight points ahead of the Montreal Canadiens, and thirteen points up on the Toronto Maple Leafs.

The second piece of good news is the return of defenseman Adam McQuaid to practice. McQuaid has missed a month on the ice since getting checked from behind by Zach Sill during the December 5th game between the Bruins and the Ottawa Senators. While it will likely be another week or so before McQuaid is medically cleared to be back on the ice, it’s good news to see him practicing with the team.
“I’m just looking forward to getting back into those exciting games,” said the Bruins blueliner to the media after Thursday’s morning skate in Buffalo. “I think it’s important with any injury that when you’re back out there, you’re sure that you’re capable of playing…and not being a detriment to the team I guess.
“You need to be ready to go. So it’s important for me to find my legs, and find my hands and make sure that when I’m back in that I’m ready to go. I’m trying to be smart that I’m fully ready to come back.”
To say McQuaid has been injury prone is an understatement. He’s missed significant time in his last three seasons battling everything from blood clots to concussions. So far this season, he’s missed 14 games due to injury, and his presence has been missed on the Bruins’ blueline. Still, the 29-year old Prince Edward Island native knows that he’s got to take it slow if he wants to be problem free when he finally gets back on the ice.
“It’s always tough to miss time. You want to be a part of things, and helping things to go in the right direction. But I’m feeling pretty good, and excited to be back out there with the guys. I wasn’t feeling too good, but I’m really trying to keep my focus on where I’m at right now, and to keep pushing forward. I’m excited about where I’m at and where I need to get to. I’m looking forward to getting to that point.
“I’m trying to stay on the positive side of things. Today was a good step, and I want to be positive and happy about that.”
