Tuukka Rask gets the Boston Bruins a shutout win.
The Boston Bruins had a strong performance in tonight’s game against the Toronto Maple Leafs. The Bruins played to their strengths and were able to blank Toronto 2-0. While the Bruins defensemen seemed on point for most of the game, the biggest winner in tonight’s game was the Black and Gold’s netminder, Tuukka Rask.

Rask has been struggling for most of the season, but tonight the Bruins primary netminder was solid in net. He stopped all twenty-two shots on goal, earning his second shutout of the season. Rask made a few acrobatic saves and preserved the game for the Bruins throughout the fifty-plus minutes of scoreless activity. This gives the Bruins their first two game win streak of the season.
Rask was certainly pleased with his performance tonight. The fans were equally excited with Rask’s hard work and the team’s win. Rask’s performance was deemed worthy of Second Star of the Game honors.
“Obviously you want to make those saves and especially when your team has the momentum and then the breakout happens,” Rask said. “That’s a timely save and that’s something a goaltender needs to make in order to keep the team in the game.

“And I mean a lot of cases this year, it hasn’t been the breakaways or 2-on-1 or 3-on-2s, it’s been post and then back to their guy or tip-ins, stuff like that we get scored on. So today was good that defensively we stuck with it and kept it tied. The chances they got were clear chances, so it’s easier for a goalie to stop.”
This shutout certainly helped Rask’s numbers and his confidence. This gives Rask his sixth win of the season. While he’s not at a .500 level just yet (6-7-1), Task has gotten his goals against average under three for the first time this season(2.95). Rask’s save percentage is closing in on a passable .900 (.896) as well.
If Tuukka Rask is finally coming around, it couldn’t come at a better time for the Boston Bruins. The Bruins are closing on Thanksgiving, and the B’s need to continually fight to climb their way back up the rankings of the Atlantic Division and the Eastern Conference.
At the moment, the Bruins are fifth in the division and ninth in the conference.
